A Conversation with Ginny Apuzzo and Toni Armstrong, Jr.
Veteran activist Virginia “Ginny” Apuzzo has been a nun, a college professor, Director of the National Gay Task Force (now the National LGBTQ Task Force), having worked to have a gay and lesbian plank included in the 1976 Democratic Party platform and then through the AIDS crisis. She has served as an appointee of New York State Governors Mario Cuomo and Elliot Spitzer. She was appointed Assistant to the President for Administration and Management, making her the highest ranking out lesbian in national government office to date.
This event explored the fascinating life and activism of Virginia “Ginny" Apuzzo with questions from veteran educator and women's music events producer Toni Armstrong, Jr., founder of BLAST Women of the Palm Beaches, in a conversation around political involvements, insider stories in the LGBT movement, politics and Apuzzo's work as an out lesbian in the Clinton Administration. Presented in partnership with Stonewall Library.
